For this week’s project about the gender and how it is perceived in our society today, I started working in a group with 7 peers on a project around the image that a person tries to communicate threw social media, how she represents herself and if it matches with her real persona.
The first thing we decided to do is to put our phones one next to each other as an experience. The first thing that we. could could observe was that each one of had a different color palette, content of pictures and way of displaying the pictures. We then started to analyse each other and compare ourselves to our instagram.
The first activity was that each person in turn would be judged by the others. We needed to guess her gender, guess her personality, her style and her hobbies threw out her instagram. And finally if her personality matches with her profil.
here are the list of each ones attributes that I wrote down:
HARRY: gender = straight ( likes girls) masculine style - minimalistic, structured, organized, skinhead, hype beast, considered presence -MATCHES HIS INSTAGRAM
IDA ( myself ) : straight ( attracted to men) very feminine style- energetic, passionate, soft and gentle, effortless natural beauty, refresh dewy skin, gorgeous, looks like a mom -MATCHES HER INSTAGRAM
RUFFUS: gay ( thoughts about the term bi) quite masculine style - DON'T MATCH HIS INSTAGRAM- suprising, mysterious, uncool, dad, conservative, judging.
JIAXI : straight - having a very different background, we noticed that we had more difficulties judging her, or giving her attributes because our. cultures are so different. the girls in our group charing her culture gave her these attributes: genius, psycho inside, big fantasy, lost ion her thoughts, has her own universe - MATCHES HER INSTAGRAM
IMAN: bisexual/ pan sexual - diverse image, goth, provocative, different faces, murderer - MATCHES HER INSTAGRAM
MALONE: Bisexual - neutral, grounded, down to earth - MATCH HER INSTAGRAM
YU HAO: straight - diverse, no self promotion in her instagram, mysterious- MATCHES HER INSTRAM.
EMILY: straight- considerate, loving, gentle, similar - MATCHES HER INSTAGRAM.

After discovering each member of the group on Monday we needed to do researches of one single person. For that we wrote all of our names on papers and put them in a hat and picked one of the paper ignoring who was in it. The person I picked was Harry, a peer that I already knew quite well sitting always next to him during the previous weeks. I was happy of the persona I needed to work o because harry is the opposite in his style and art. Compared to me, who is going crazy with shapes , deforming the human body , creating garments that are colorful and explosive, Harry tends to use only black and white, love geometric lines and is very minimalistic and conservative.
To understand more his vision and his personality I interviewed him:

Today's drawing session was really amusing and Paul Kindersley really is an amazing person, he detaches hisself from the ordinary with his very unique vision and style. I always preferred to take my time to draw and also to follow my own steps, but during this drawing session , it was more playing with our ability to draw and having fun on the paper. I discovered so many knew ways to draw that were so interesting: my favorite one was definitely the electric choc one which consisted of acting as if we received an electro choc as soon as Paul screamed. The first time he screamed it actually really scared me so much that I screamed with him. I had so much fun and will cherish this moments and think often about them.

This weeks contextual practice session with Chris was about exchanging our different point of view about the term gender neutrality and identity. The thing is that this subject is so vast that we could talk ages about it because of its richness. We first started to define what non binary means, with was a term that I ignored. Its the spectrum of gender identities, that are not inclusive masculine or feminine.
